Pharmacy Tech Practice Exam
Certification Exam Review- Practice Tests and Answers

Find Pharmacy Tech practice exam resources here. Many folks find the book named "Reference Guide for Pharmacy Technician Exam (PTCE)" written by Manan H Shroff to be very helpful in covering sample questions. We also recommend "Mosby's Review for the Pharmacy Technician Certification" by James J. Miznerother and other pharmacy technician books.

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination test your knowledge of a wide range of topics related to daily duties for a Pharmacy Technician. Passing the exam and becoming a Certified Pharmacy Technician increases your potential income and job opportunities.

Approximately 40% of the questions on the PTCE are focused on math skills. The remaining questions focus on generic names of drugs and their therapeutic uses, adverse effects of drugs and short names for drugs. Some of the questions are relatively easy, and others will be much more challenging, especially if you have focused on only retail or hospital settings and not both. Many folks that have taken the test agree that it conatins many math questions and questions about laws. There are also questions about adverse drug effects and which drug would be used to treat a given illness. Also, be familiar with verification of DEA numbers and all the laws and associations within an institutional setting.

Some folks have had great success by studying books to prepare for this exam. Others take Continuing Education classes at local universities ... try to find one taught by an experienced CPhT.

Another issue agreed upon by previous exam participants is that time can become a challenge if you have not prepared well and start to struggle on a few questions.
