A Pharmacy Technician Practice Exam will help you prepare for the PTCB exam. Practice tests of course simulate the experience of taking the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Exam and will help you understand which topics you have mastered and which you need to review.
The format of practice tests is generally multiple choice questions, which is the format of the actual PTCB test. Questions will cover topics you have studied in training and will fall into 3 main categories: Assisting the Pharmacist in Serving Patients, Maintaining Medication and Inventory Control Systems, and Participating in the Administration and Management of Pharmacy Practice. Questions will include items such as side effects of medication, math calculations, symptoms and treatment options, which medicine can be prescribed with aspirin, how to treat a certain overdose, which classification category specific drugs fall into and more.
There are numerous companies and organizations offering practice tests. The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board has "The Official PTCB Practice Exam" which has the same exam blueprint specifications as the certification exam. They offer 2 versions of the test so that you may take it once, discover your weaknesses, and then take it again (the other version) and not repeat the exact same questions. The test is administered on the PTCB website and takes 60 minutes and costs $29.
