Top Paying Careers
Best Careers for the Future - High Demand Jobs

Top paying careers, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report for 2009, are dominated by health related occupations. Surgeons, anesthesiologists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, obstetricians and gynecologists are on the top of the list.

Outside of health fields, CEO's, lawyers, engineering managers, airline pilots and air traffic controllers were also near the top of the list and all earned over $100,000

When considering top paying careers and high demand jobs, you may want to evaluate the level of training required as well as the level of stress involved in the day to day routine. Most of these careers require college degrees and many require graduate school training. Keep this in mind before simply looking at the high salary and thinking you have found the career for you. Make sure you are truly passionate about the field and topic. You'll need to be motivated and excited to make it through the years of training and the daily demands of the job.

Almost all jobs have stress but some of these are "famous" for stress. Anesthesiologists literally have people's lives in their hands and are responsible for making sure surgery patients receive enough, but not TOO much, anesthesia. Air traffic controllers are also responsible for people's lives and must coordinate the safety of planes with hundreds of passengers. You should be honest with yourself and evaluate how you would react and feel in these roles before simply thinking the salary would be great.

One career that is not mentioned in the top 10, but that also has an earning potential for $100,000 or more, is a pharmacist. This career is also expected to have plenty of employment opportunities due to the fact that the baby boomer generation is entering the age at which they are likely to use more medicine and prescriptions. If you are considering becoming a pharmacist, you may be interested in becoming a pharmacy technician first. Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists and can gain experience in a pharmacy and then continue their education and become pharmacists.

Pharmacy Technicians Job Demand

The growth for Pharmacy Technicians is expected to be much stronger than for other occupations and the Bureau of Labor predicts employment for pharmacy technicians and aides will increase by 25% from 2008 to 2018.
